TULSA, Okla - Residents in South Tulsa will soon have new options for shopping and dining. A new retail development is underway at 91st and South Yale called "Tuscana on Yale."

The parking lot of the complex is already complete. The builder says construction on buildings will start in just a few weeks. By fall of 2012, the first businesses could open their doors.

The developers of Tuscana on Yale want it to be the go-to destination for luxury shopping and dining in South Tulsa.

Rupe Building Company is the contractor on the project. Company President John Rupe tells 2NEWS, "The owners of the facility really went above and beyond. They are making this top notch throughout. And that's exciting for not only us, the builders, but it's also going to be exciting for the people that live in this area."

Rexann Springman lives nearby. She says she and her neighbors look forward to having more options for shopping and dining near their homes.

"I'm very excited. Some of my friends heard this was going go to be coming. And we are glad to see South Tulsa have some more shops coming to our neighborhood," says Springman. "In South Tulsa we have to go to Midtown for a lot of different restaurants. They are slowly moving their way out here. There are a few. But it's nice to have more of a choice."

One of the restaurants that has signed on to open up at Tuscana on Yale is KEO, a popular Asian fusion restaurant on Brookside.

Rupe says the development will have a Tuscan look - with lots of stucco, stone and special details, "When you get to build a project like this one, with great details and a lot of neat features throughout, it gets us excited. So we are really excited to be awarded this project."

Tuscana is located in the heart of the 74137 zip code. That area has the highest median household income in Tulsa. It's one of the fastest growing. A lot is happening in that area of Tulsa.

A Whole Foods location is also scheduled to open up on the lot adjacent to Tuscana on Yale in the summer of 2013.
