OTTAWA COUNTY, Okla. - A Wyandotte man died Saturday morning after his 13-year-old step son accidentally shot him in a hunting accident, officials said.
The pair and another friend came back to their vehicle after deer hunting when the boy’s rifle discharged, striking 41-year-old Robert Chestnutt in the upper chest, Rogers County Game Warden Lt. Brek Henry said.
The friend drove Chestnutt to a store east of Miami, Okla. where they called 911, Henry said.
Chestnutt was transported to a Joplin, Mo. hospital where he died undergoing surgery, Henry said.
The death has been ruled accidental.
