SAPULPA, Okla. - Two people are dead after a wrong-way driver caused a crash on the Turner Turnpike late Thursday night.
Troopers are trying to determine why a pickup was driving the wrong way on the turnpike around 11:15 p.m.
Troopers say the driver of a pickup truck was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the turnpike near the Sapulpa exit when the driver crashed head-on into two other vehicles.
A third person was injured.
The impact turned the vehicles into a nearly unrecognizable mess.
The crash shut down the turnpike for nearly three hours. It reopened around 2 a.m. Friday.
The names of the victims have not been released.
