WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. - Wagoner County deputies are trying to piece together a gruesome scene Monday night they believe was the result of an April Fools' Day joke gone bad.
Deputies were called to a stabbing call, finding only an 18-year-old woman, Tori Wheeler, in the Wagoner County home. Wheeler proceeded to tell the authorities she had told her boyfriend, Derek Bauer, she was pregnant as an April Fool's joke.
Wheeler claimed her boyfriend got mad, to which she responded with a knife -- again, she said, in jest. But Bauer continued to grow angry, she said, even threatening to call police.
That's when Wheeler said things escalated, ultimately resulting in her cutting Bauer's throat with the knife and biting him twice.
Major Gary Handley, with the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, said deputies met Bauer at a local hospital. The sheriff's spokesman said Bauer was treated, given seven stitches and released.
Wheeler was arrested and transported to the Wagoner County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
