CREEK COUNTY, Okla. - A Mannford woman was killed and two children were injured in a crash early Wednesday morning on State Highway 33 in Creek County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Melissa Byard was driving a four-door 2001 Ford. She failed to yield while pulling out of a private drive and a second vehicle -- a 2011 Mazda four-door driven by 26-year-old Whitney Davis -- struck Byard's vehicle in the driver's side door.
Byard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two of her passengers -- 9-year-old James Byard and 12-year-old Laurun Byard -- were transported to a Tulsa hospital by ambulance. They were admitted in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
A third passenger, 16-year-old Tristan Pittser, was treated and released at Drumright Hospital for minor bruising.
Davis was transported by ambulance to a Tulsa hospital, where she was admitted in serious condition with head, neck, back, leg and arm injuries.
