TULSA - University of Tulsa head coach Doug Wojcik will not return next season, university athletic officials announced at a Sunday news conference.

"After substantial consideration, we have decided to make a change in our head basketball coaching position,"  University of Tulsa Director of Athletics Ross Parmley said. "This is a business decision based on some serious challenges we have in basketball. Since 2005, we have seen a 35-percent decrease in season ticket sales, a 43-percent decline in revenue and growing apathy among our fan base."

Wojcik compiled a 140-92 record in his seven seasons at the helm of the Golden Hurricane program and recently became the school's leader in career victories, according to the the university's website.

A national search for a new head basketball coach will begin immediately, officials said.
