TULSA - The City of Tulsa has hired a director for the Management Review Office, spokesperson Kim MacLeod confirmed Wednesday. Vickie Beyer will lead a team of project managers tasked with carrying out recommendations from the KPMG study.
Beyer formerly worked as the city's utility services manager. Mayor Dewey Bartlett in January made her head of MRO after former city auditor Preston Doerflinger resigned to become director of the Oklahoma Office of State Finance. Beyer now becomes a permanent employee of MRO.
The KPMG report, released in September 2010, outlines 1,100 changes that propose to streamline city operations.
Recommendations include transitioning some police administration positions into civilian positions and eliminating city services deemed unnecessary.
The MRO is currently working on managed competition projects within the equipment maintenance division and building operations and maintenance department.
Managed competition involves city employees bidding against the private sector for services administrators put up for bid.
