TULSA - An overnight chase with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol ended with a violent crash and a suspect on the run.

It started around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday when a trooper tried to pull over an SUV for a traffic violation.

The driver fled and eventually rolled the SUV, crashing into and snapping a power pole near Latimer and Harvard.

Tulsa police told 2NEWS the driver then ran into the neighborhood.

Troopers said they found ammunition in the SUV and are concerned the man may be armed.

A police helicopter, K-9 patrols and tips from watchful neighbors were not enough to catch him.

The driver is suspected of stealing a car.

Early Tuesday, police were looking for a white man around 6 feet tall with dark hair, blue eyes, a goatee and tattoos on his arms.

Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts and/or identity should call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
