TULSA - A special blood drive with the American Red Cross kicks off Wednesday.
With blood donations at a 15-year low, three University of Oklahoma Heisman Trophy winners are coming forward to help.
Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White will greet donors at the "Heismans to the Rescue" blood drive at the Tulsa donation center, located at 10151 E. 11th St.
This is the third year the Sooner standouts have partners with the Red Cross for the blood drive.
Donors will receive a commemorative " Heismans to the Rescue" T-shirt and will be automatically entered to win prizes, including a football autographed by the three Heisman winners.
Wednesday's drive begins at 10:30 a.m. An additional kickoff event is Thursday at 7 a.m.
Owens, Sims and White will appear at the drive from noon to 2 p.m.
