TULSA - A Tulsa Transit bus was burned irrevocably Thursday as it sat fully consumed near the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center.
Fire crews, who were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m., are still investigating the cause of the fire. According to firefighters on scene, the bus driver called into the station thinking he had a flat tire when another Tulsa Transit driver saw flames coming from underneath the vehicle and radioed his fellow driver.
Only the driver and one passenger were on the bus at the time, and both managed to get off before suffering any injuries.
Firefighters also said the driver had just gassed up the bus, filling it with 80 gallons of diesel fuel onboard.
The fire was put out some time around 4 p.m.
