TULSA - A teen mother accused of physically abusing her child is awaiting trial.

Jessica Newell was taken into TPD custody Friday when hospital workers reportedly found her 3-month-old girl to have a broken femur and a broken clavicle.

A pediatrician determined the injuries to be excessive and indicative of child abuse, according to Newell's booking report.

Police said the 18-year-old did admit to possibly picking up the child's leg too hard, but said she never had bad intentions.

Newell, facing one count of child abuse, is expected in court March 1.
