TULSA - The Tulsa Police Department is preparing for a change in the way it patrols the streets.
Officers currently cover six large sectors of the city.
At the end of the month, TPD is scheduled to return to a beat system; officers will be assigned to 2 to 3 mile area.
Those individual beats mean the same group of officers will be cruising through the same neighborhoods.
Officer Matt Rose says it will help him build better relationships with residents and business owners, "People tend to come and talk to you more whenever they see your face on a repetitive basis, they get to [trusting] you more and they get to know you better."
The new beat system is scheduled to start on August 29th.
