TULSA - Reconstruction work on the primary runway at Tulsa International Airport will resume on Jan. 2 which will alter flight activity.
The work is the third phase of a $55 million project to completely reconstruct the airport's 9,999 feet of runway.
It was last reconstructed in 1982.
The airport will remain open throughout the project with commercial flight activity operating on the airport’s 7,376 feet crosswind runway.
Airport officials said passengers may experience delays or cancelations when weather conditions - northerly or southerly winds that exceed 25 knots, cloud ceiling below 500 feet or visibility that is less than a mile and a half - prohibit the use of the crosswind runway.
Officials also said residents in the area will notice a change in the regular flight pattern of airplanes coming in and leaving the airport.
