TULSA - The Tulsa International Airport was not able to open the runway at noon as they had originally planned.
According to their website, they had thought by noon the surface would be ready for flights in and out of the airport, but after an inspection they have postponed the decision to open until 3 p.m.
TIA spokesperson Alexis Higgins cautions that airlines are still unsure when they will resume full flight schedules and advises passengers to check before heading to the airport.
More than 50 flights were cancelled this morning at TIA.
Crews began clearing the main runway late Tuesday night, but fierce winds kept blowing snow back onto the places they just plowed.
Flight information:
American Airlines – (800) 433-7300

Airport Access:
Access to the airport is still extremely difficult. One lane of Highway 11 has been plowed, however entrance and exit ramps are difficult to navigate. Memorial Drive provides the best access to the airport terminal.
Parking:
Public parking is available in our hourly parking lot and garage. Drivers should stay in the plowed areas. Valet parking is also available (customers should call 918-836-6374 to confirm arrival time).
Terminal Services:
Although the airport terminal is open, limited services are available to airport guests (i.e. restaurants, shops, taxis, etc.).
Passenger Travel Tips:
1. Call your airline to confirm your flight status
2. Give yourself plenty of time for driving, parking, and walking to the terminal.
3. Carry all medication and personal effects (i.e. wallet, travelers checks, jewelry, travel size toiletries, etc.) in your carry-on luggage. This would ensure your access to these items should your travel plans change.
4. Have a contingency plan should your flight be canceled. There are two hotels at the airport available to serve stranded passengers.
