TULSA - A woman incarcerated at the Tulsa County jail was transported to a local hospital where she later died, according to the sheriff's office.
In a written statement, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said that on Friday morning, a detention officer noticed 52-year-old Gwendolyn Young was in distress. Medical aid was rendered at the jail until EMSA personnel transported Young to a hospital.
Doctors at the hospital pronounced Young deceased just after 11:15 a.m., according to TCSO.
Young was in jail after a jury found her guilty of threatening a public official in October. Her case was under appeal.
The state medical examiner's office will determine the final cause and manner of death.
