TULSA - Tulsa County Commissioners have extended the burn ban for Tulsa County until August 6.
Chief Deputy County Commissioner Michael Willis said emergency management officials have surveyed area fire departments and checked weather forecasts before deciding conditions were appropriate according to the guidelines set out in state law.
The resolution prohibits outdoor burning, including controlled burns and bonfires. The ban will not apply, however, to gas or electric grilling over a non-flammable surface.
Violators of the resolution may be fined up to $500 and be sentenced to a year in prison.
