TULSA - Tulsa City Councilor Byron "Skip" Steele was hospitalized Thursday.

CIty officials say Steele was transported from City Hall by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The District 6 councilman was diagnosed with Streptococcus pneumoniae .

City officials say Steele's vitals are good and he's in stable condition. He's expected to be released from the hospital soon.

Steele has been in office since December 2011.
