TULSA - The Tulsa City Council and mayor's office are considering a possible mediation to reach agreements on issues both parties say need resolved. Knowing about the tension between two, Mayor Dewey Bartlett proposed holding a mediation. Topics could range from the investigation into he and his staff regarding accusations that they layed off police officers knowing they could use grant money, to budget restorations like getting the highway lights turned back on.
Some members on both sides say a mediation is worth considering.
"We think it's a very good idea, I mean what is there to lose? There's nothing to lose and everything to gain," said Mayor Dewey Bartlett.
"Everyone that is involved in this, all ten elected officials ran because they love this community. They love this city. That has gotten totally overshadowed by all of this. You have different people trying to do the best for the city they love, but coming at it from different directions," said District 9 City Councilor GT Bynum
Councilors held a discussion about mediation Thursday. They plan to discuss the possibility further next week.
