TULSA - One of the most heavily traveled highways in Tulsa will be harder to get to for some drivers starting with the Tuesday morning drive.

For motorists traveling westbound I-244 to Highway 169 South or North, be sure to now take I-44 at the I-44/244 split.  The Highway 169 ramps from westbound I-244 are closed in both directions and will remain closed through mid-October.

Kenna Mitchell with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the ramps are being re-paved.

"By going in and doing this closure rather than trying to piece it together little bit by little bit, this is actually expediting the closure," said Mitchell.  "So this will be a shorter closure than what we would see if we were just doing it in small portions."

Also Tuesday, the lanes through the area will shift on the westbound side.

The ramp from Garnett  to westbound I-244 is also closed.

Officials say all these changes will require drivers to slow down, be careful and pay attention.
