TULSA - A Tulsa man was taken to jail Thursday after police say he strangled his girlfriend.
Officers responded to a home near Pine and North Lewis around 3 p.m. They say the victim told police her boyfriend, Damien Wardell, began arguing with her early that morning and "went into a rage."
Police say the victim reported Wardell slamming her to the ground and strangling her with both hands around her neck until she began losing consciousness.
Police say after they arrived Wardell remained barricaded in the house for more than two hours before officers convinced him to surrender.
Wardell was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
