CATOOSA, Okla. - A suspicious fire destroyed a vacant Catoosa home overnight.
It started around 10:30 p.m. in a remote area north of Pine and 193rd East Avenue.
Firefighters say they could see flames shooting into the air before they even arrived on the scene.
By the time firefighters arrived, the grass and tall trees around the house had already caught fire and the house was already destroyed. Firefighters focused their efforts on containing the grass fire.
The home hasn't been lived in for about a year and investigators believe the fire was intentional.
"It was a vacant house, no power to gas so that raises a red flag for us," said Jason Rogers, Catoosa Fire Department.
Firefighters monitored hot spots throughout the night.
Investigators are now working to determine who owns the property.
They say they plan to turn the investigation over to the Rogers County Sheriff's Office.
