TULSA - Tulsa police have identified the man killed over the weekend during an officer-involved shooting at a south Tulsa apartment complex.

Police say 31-year-old Juan Gonzalez was shot by Officer Daniel Madewell Saturday night after police were called to Coppermill Apartments for a possible suicidal person.

Officers on the scene said Gonzalez chased his roommate from their 71st and Sheridan apartment with a knife and refused to leave the apartment.

Hours later, Gonzalez walked onto his balcony armed with what police said they thought was a gun.  Madewell fired, killing the him.

Gonzalez's weapon was later determined to be a BB gun.

Madewell was hired by the Tulsa Police Department in August 2007.  He is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
