TULSA - A man accused of shooting a classmate at an off-campus gathering was in court Monday.

Mark Hopkins, 41, was arrested Feb. 21 after police responded to a shooting at the Spartan Landing Apartments the night before.

On Friday, Hopkins was charged with first-degree murder and four counts of shooting with intent to kill. Police say he shot 18-year-old Chaz Fain and three others, all of whom were students at Spartan College of Aeronautics.

Fain was pronounced dead at the scene. He was laid to rest over the weekend in his Florida home town.

Police say two of the surviving victims shared an apartment with Hopkins, where the shooting occurred. The others lived in the complex but in different locations.

On Monday, Hopkins pleaded not guilty to all charges and was denied bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 15.
