State health officials release updated West Nile virus numbers

OKLAHOMA CITY - According to Oklahoma health officials, a new death has been attributed to West Nile virus, bringing the state's death total this year to nine.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health released an updated case count Thursday morning.
Three new cases have been reported since Tuesday, according to health officials. A total of 154 people have been diagnosed with the virus this year.
The recent death occurred in Muskogee County.
The highest concentration of West Nile cases have been in Oklahoma and Tulsa Counties.
In Oklahoma, the West Nile virus season runs from May to November. Health officials say people are at greatest risk of exposure to infected mosquitoes from July through October
