TULSA - The Tulsa International Airport opened its main runway at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
Tulsa Airport Authority spokesperson Alexis Higgins says Southwest and American Airlines plan to operate flights. All other airlines have canceled flights until Thursday.
Higgins cautions that passengers need to confirm their flight before heading to the airport.
More than 50 flights were cancelled this morning at TIA.
Crews began clearing the main runway late Tuesday night, but fierce winds kept blowing snow back onto the places they just plowed.

Airport Access:
Access to the airport is still extremely difficult. One lane of Highway 11 has been plowed. Airport personnel have plowed the entrance and exit ramps to aid traffic flow from Highway 11. Memorial Drive provides the best access to the airport terminal.
Parking:
Public parking is available in our hourly parking lot and garage. Drivers should stay in the plowed areas. Valet parking is also available (customers should call 918-836-6374 to confirm arrival time).
Terminal Services:
Although the airport terminal is open, limited services are available to airport guests (i.e. restaurants, shops, taxis, etc.).
Passenger Travel Tips:
1. Call your airline to confirm your flight status.
2. Give yourself plenty of time for driving, parking, and walking to the terminal.
3. Carry all medication and personal effects (i.e. wallet, travelers checks, jewelry, travel size toiletries, etc.) in your carry-on luggage. This would ensure your access to these items should your travel plans change.
4. Have a contingency plan should your flight be canceled. There are two hotels at the airport available to serve stranded passengers.
