SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. - A Sequoyah County man is custody after a woman on Monday was found shot, lying in a front yard with her child standing nearby.

According to the sheriff's officials, they came upon the scene shortly after noon after receiving a call reporting a woman shot south of Sallisaw. Officials found 22-year-old Shayna Stahl lying in a front yard with a gunshot wound through her upper chest and a one year old child standing over her. She was then transported by helicopter to Tulsa hospital with threatening injuries.

After interviews with her husband 26-year-old Raymond Stahl, authorities arrested him on charges of shooting with intent to kill, felon in possession of a firearm, child endangerment and possession of controlled dangerous substances.

According to the sheriff's office, the couple had been separated for several weeks.
