TULSA -- A man is in federal custody after threatening an Oklahoma congressman.

A spokesperson for Rep. John Sullivan says security has been enhanced after Wayne Franklin Miles publicly threatened to kill Sullivan.

According to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court by the United States Capitol Police, the 52-year-old Miles walked into the Skiatook Police Station July 22 and threatened to kill Sullivan.

Miles said the congressman was having an affair with Miles' estranged wife.

"I don't know this individual, his wife or anyone associated with them," said Sullivan.  "Court documents show he is mentally unstable.  I want to thank the law enforcement officials for their quick response to ensure the safety of myself and my family."

Miles is in federal custody pending a bond hearing next week.
