TULSA - The plan to end Saturday mail delivery has hit a major roadblock.
Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe announced the coming end of Saturday mail last month, and noted that the majority of Americans approve of the change to weekday only delivery.
Now the House of Representatives has instructed the Postal Service to keep six-day delivery running through at least September.
Postmaster Donahoe and the Letter Carriers Union have launched competing ad campaigns in an effort to get their points across.
Donahoe claims the cost-cutting measure is necessary to fund health care coverage and other financial obligations; the Letter Carrier Union counters that slowly dismantling the service is no way to save it.
