SAND SPRINGS, Okla. - A Tulsa man and woman were arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly stealing nearly $700 in merchandise and bringing their children for the spree.
Dion Shermaine Thomas, 35, and Melissa Jean Greer, 34, and Greer's 14-year-old son, a minor, entered the Sand Springs Walmart around 2 a.m., April 13, and attempted to conceal video games, electronics, and other items from around the store in their purse, pockets and jackets.
An asset protection specialist saw the three suspects and contacted Sand Springs police.
Police located the family and recovered 28 stolen items, totaling $699.65. Reports identify the items found included a tripod and camera system, DVDs, memory cards, energy drinks, jewelry and a backpack full of clothing.
While being questioned, Thomas stated Greer was his wife, and they needed rent money.
The 14-year-old was placed under arrest for larceny, and then released to a DHS Child Welfare Services specialist. The couple's two-year-old, who was also with them, was released to DHS, as well.
Both Greer and Thomas were arrested on felony charges of grand larceny and encouraging a minor to commit a felony. They were each were held on a $14,000 bail.
