LEWISVILLE, Texas - A man accused of shooting his mother and fleeing with his 6-year-old son in Sand Springs Tuesday night taught at Glenpool High School last year, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Robert Connor III taught Spanish at Glenpool during the 2012-2013 school year. Administrators said Wednesday they had no reason to believe he was dangerous or mentally ill, as one of Connor's uncles asserted following his arrest.
Connor was taken into custody at a Lewisville, Texas hotel around 7:30 a.m. He was believed to have abducted his son, Decklan Connor, from a home northwest of Sand Springs after shooting the child's grandmother, Deborah Connor.

Osage County deputies said Robert and his mother were arguing about money when he shot her. Robert's 10-year-old son, who was also in the home, ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.
Authorities say tips led them to the Fairfield Inn, where they found his car in the parking lot. Nearby rooms were evacuated and the SWAT team surrounded the area.
Capt. Jay Powell with the Lewisville Police Department says officers addressed Robert through the door with a microphone before he surrendered.
Officials with the Osage County District Attorney's Office say the DA has approved charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
Meanwhile, Decklan Connor was placed with Child Protective Services.
2NEWS spoke with Tim Connor, Robert 's uncle, who says his nephew suffers from mental illness and wasn't taking his medication.
Tim Connor says Deborah Connor was caring for both Robert's children.
