TULSA - Tulsa Public Schools board members Tuesday night accepted the resignation of Robert Yerton, Junior.
The suspended assistant principal, who is accused of molesting multiple children, turned in a resignation letter dated June 25th to superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard.
In the letter, Yerton writes, "I could go on for pages protesting my innocence, but the point is that my position at the school is irrevocably compromised regardless of the outcome at the courthouse."
Yerton is charged with three counts of Lewd Molestation and two counts of Child Sexual Abuse. His attorney, Richard O'Carroll, says the accusations against his client are unfounded. O'Carrolll plans to "expose motives" at Yerton's July 19th preliminary hearing.
The resignation is effective immediately.
