Winter workouts in the cold and snow can be tough, but there's no reason you can't get outside if you take a few precautions.

Experts say the key is dressing warmly.

Whatever your sport or activity is, wear layers and don't forget a hat.

Avoid cotton clothing - it absorbs moisture from your skin, making you even colder.

As you warm up during your workout, you can remove layers - but be sure to keep children in backpacks or strollers bundled up the entire time you're outside.

Experts also say it's important to stay hydrated during your workout, even though you don't feel as thirsty in the winter months.
