Police break up east Tulsa prostitution ring, say sex trafficking may be involved

TULSA - Three people were taken into custody early Wednesday morning when Tulsa police busted what may be an interstate prostitution ring.

Investigators say it could also involve sex trafficking.

It happened around 2 a.m. at Tulsa Inn and Suites in east Tulsa, just east of 31st and Memorial.

Police discovered the prostitution ring on a popular website, backpages.com, and arranged a meeting. Tulsa police Sgt. Todd Evans said his department has arrested 50 people in the last four months from the site.

Clarence Holden, Destiny Niles and Deron Maxey (not pictured above) -- all reportedly from Arkansas -- were booked into the Tulsa County Jail for various charges.

Evans said another seven are likely involved in the ring.

Multiple females at the scene told officers they were forced to participate against their will. Police would not comment on how old they were.

An Oklahoma House Bill proposed earlier this month would erase the prostitution records of sex trafficking victims, but it's unclear how authorities would determine the level of a person's involvement.
