TULSA - A teenage girl narrowly escaped a sexual assault Wednesday night before fighting off her attacker.

Tulsa Police Department spokesman Officer Leland Ashley said the 16-year-old was with friends at Warehouse Market near 3rd and Lewis around 10 p.m.

Ashley said the group was approached by 49-year-old Corey Reynolds, who said he had marijuana.

One of the girls accompanied Reynolds behind the building where he attempted to grope her.

Ashley said the teen hit Reynolds with a rock after he wouldn't stop.

An off-duty Creek County sheriff's deputy was nearby and stopped to help the teen.

Reynolds was arrested by a patrolling officer.  He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for sexual battery and public intoxication on $2,100 bond.
