His mother told 2NEWS her son has a troubled past but he's a "good person." She said this is a big misunderstanding between Nelson and his girlfriend.
According to the arrest report, the woman told police the two argued because Nelson didn't want her to work that day and she went anyway. She said he started drinking, went to the store and took her against her will.
According to the report, the woman tried to exit the car but Nelson reached across her and closed the door. She also said he had a .45 caliber handgun under the seat, though she didn't see the weapon.
She told police Nelson threatened to kill them both.
On Tuesday, Nelson arrived at the Owasso Police Department, asking to speak with someone about the incident. He told the detective who arrived his lawyer said he shouldn't speak.
According to the arrest report, the detective placed Nelson under arrest due to probable cause.
While being booked, Nelson told the detective, "I'm not a bad guy, I wish you understood what she did to me. I just lost it. She gave me something for my birthday that I can't wash off. I'm tainted."
Upon request, Nelson was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. He was then booked into the Tulsa County Jail for domestic assault and battery, kidnapping and threatening a violent act.
