TULSA - Oklahoma's Congressional Leaders spoke with 2NEWS about this weekend's shooting at a political event in Arizona.

As of Saturday night, 18 people had been shot, at least six are dead.

Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head; she's in critical condition.

Congressman Dan Boren calls Giffords a close friend, "She and I have known each other since before she came to congress. so, this is just awful news, not only on a personal level but i think for the country."

Congressman John Sullivan flew home from Washington, DC with Giffords, on Friday.

"I think going forward we need to take different precautions for our staff, for ourselves at events and still not compromise our relationship with our constituents," Congressman Sullivan said.
