TULSA - T-town is preparing to Thunder Up Friday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder hit the hardwood at the BOK Center for a preseason game.
The boys in blue take on the Phoenix Suns at 7 p.m.
The Thunder scrimmaged at the Spirit Bank Event Center in Bixby Thursday night in front of a sellout crowd.
Doors open at the BOK Center at 6 p.m.
Tickets to Friday's game also sold out.
Tulsa police issued a traffic alert in advance of the game: Beginning at 6 p.m. Denver Avenue is closed to traffic from 1st to 4th Streets during the event. Vehicles that are dropping patrons off close to the BOK Center may enter Denver from 1st turning south on Denver. They're asked to drop patrons off between 1st and 2nd Streets, then exit east on 2nd Street. Remember, 1st Street is a one-way westbound street.
Patrons driving into downtown from the south along Denver must turn east at 4th Street.
Ahead of the game, the team is holding an educational program for fourth through sixth graders. Rumble the bison, the team's mascot, members of the coaching staff and the team's commentator will talk to students about reading, nutrition, exercises and good sportsmanship.
The team's regular season begins Nov. 1 in San Antonio.
