TULSA - A new entertainment district is coming to downtown Tulsa.

"SOBO", short for "South Boston," will be located along a three block stretch of Boston Avenue from 3rd to 6th streets.

Kanbar Properties, which owns several office buildings downtown, recently hired a new marketing team to bring SOBO to life.

Most Tulsans consider Boston Avenue to be a place where people work. After 5 p.m. the street becomes deserted.

To change that, the Fears and Clark Realty Group is trying to recruit dining, retail and entertainment to this part of downtown.

The nightlife scene is fairly active in downtown's Blue Dome and Brady Arts districts. But, the area between 3rd and 6th is home to some of the city's most iconic art deco buildings including the Atlas Life and Philcade buildings.

Marketers hope to make Boston Avenue the next hip destination, "It's a beautiful scene here, just an untold story that people aren't familiar with and what we want to do is create a vibrant, walkable urbanism with a dining, retail and shopping experience you can't find anywhere else here. And if we do it, we think we'll create a better work environment for people who live and work down here," said marketer Clay Clark.

A couple of restaurant owners have already started to stay open after 5 p.m.
