MUSKOGEE, Okla. -  Police have found a body after a city worker discovered a dog carrying human remains in his mouth.

According to Muskogee Police, a city worker reported seeing a dog carrying a human arm. After arriving on scene, officers were able to confirm it was a decomposed arm off of a body.

K-9 officers searched the area and found a "heavily decomposed body" in the woods nearby.

Police don't have information about the person's age, race or sex.

"At this point we don't have any signs of foul play. We're still looking into it and it's an option, but right now, we don't have any suspects or anything," said Officer Pedro Zardeneta.

There are some missing persons cases open in Muskogee, but police say it's too early to know if this will be one of those cases.

Police say they have some leads, but nothing is concrete. They're waiting on a report from the medical examiner's office to identify the body.

Neighbors like Reverend Jerry Washington hope police solve the case soon. In the meantime--

"You just have to be vigilant and keep an eye on your neighbors. And watch out for your neighbors and do the best you can," Washington said.
