MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- A deployment ceremony is scheduled for Oklahoma Army National Guard soldiers who are leaving for Afghanistan.
The ceremony for about 150 members of the 1220th Engineer Company is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee.
The Muskogee-based company will deploy to Paktika Province, Afghanistan, where the soldiers are to build and demolish roadways and other paved surfaces for Afghan and coalition forces.
The soldiers will be mobilized for one year and are expected to be in Afghanistan for about nine months.
