March is Youth Art Month and Muskogee Public Schools is celebrating with its annual art show.
Now through March 16, locals can view art from Muskogee students on display at Arrowhead Mall.
Young artists range from from kindergarten to high school with fiber art, paintings, welding and 3D images among the hundreds of pieces they have created.
“We have a lot talented kids in our district,” said Kat Trueblood, head of the Muskogee High School fine arts department. “For kids that aren't in athletics, they get a chance to be in the limelight for a while.”
Participants competed for prizes in each division and age group, which were distributed earlier this month. The final award, the People's Choice, will be given out Thursday night during the district's Fine Arts Award Night.
Votes can be cast through March 13 for the People Choice Award.
The art show and the awards night are funded through the Muskogee Education Foundation.
