MUSKOGEE, Okla. - A burglary suspect was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a business owner turned a gun on him.
Around 2:15 a.m. Muskogee police responded to a business at 211 N. 7th. The business owner, Dale Ford, told officers he was sleeping inside his business when he was awakened by someone kicking in the front door.
Ford told police he grabbed a gun and confronted the suspect, who was already inside the business.
Police say Ford fired several shots, striking the suspect once in the arm. Ford ordered the suspect to the ground and called 911, holding the suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived.
The suspect, 35-year-old Joseph Carpenter, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.
