TULSA - A man is dead after speeding away from Tulsa police officers late Tuesday.
It started around 10:30 p.m. when officers patrolling downtown Tulsa spotted a motorcycle speeding through traffic, running red lights and racing other motorcycles.
When they tried to stop him, police say the driver sped off.
The officers lost sight of the motorcycle but eventually spotted where it crashed on Highway 75 near Apache in north Tulsa.
The 27-year-old man was severely injured and his bike was impaled on a fence outside a salvage yard.
The driver, whose name has not been released, died at the hospital
