TULSA - Friends and family gathered Tuesday to remember the giving spirit of Tulsa's Mother Grace Tucker.

She died last week at the age of 93.

Mother Tucker began helping to Tulsa's homeless more than 50 years ago and she would go on to start a church in 1975.

"It makes me feel good," said Tucker in 2008. "It gave me what you call soul sickness because I had hope."

Mother Tucker operated a shelter out of her thrift store, caring for the city's homeless and hungry.

A public memorial service was held Tuesday morning at Victory Christian Center.
