TULSA - One of bigger projects is the construction of three low water dams in the Arkansas River. This includes rebuilding the existing Zink Dam and creating 2 new ones in Jenks and Sand Springs.
"To repair damage that has been done to the river, to make it more environmentally sustainable," says David Arnett.
He says while there is 10 million dollars set aside for the project and more money coming from the state, they're still waiting for 50 million from the federal government to be allocated. Arnett says he has no idea when that will happen. But when the river project is finally complete, he says cities can then decide if the want to add recreation or develop even more.
"Vision 2025 was designed in large part to plant seeds in the various communities, to advance those communities development," Arnett says.
Another project is a new sports complex at Mohawk Park. City officials say while the blueprints have yet to be finalized, they've broken ground on the new skate park and hope to start working on the soccer area this year.
While officials say there's no telling as to when the entire vision will be complete, it definitely will be done before 2025.
Within the next few weeks, Tulsa County residents will get a projects report in the mail, which will give everyone more detail to the progress on vision 2025.
