TULSA - A man was killed in the parking lot of a Tulsa apartment complex after an armed robbery turned into a fight around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.
Tulsa police say a couple in their 40s was getting out of a car at the Lewiston Apartments near 51st and Lewis when a man armed with a handgun approached them and demanded money. A struggle broke out and the male victim was shot.
The victim, 42-year-old Kevin Hawkins, died at the scene.
The suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with braided hair, thin build and around 5 foot 6 inches tall.
This is the 28th homicide in Tulsa for 2013.
