TULSA - A man is recovering from being shot multiple times and hit over the head during an overnight carjacking.
Police were called to a QuikTrip at I-44 and 193rd East Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Monday after a man showed up and said he was the victim of a carjacking.
Officers say the man had been shot in the leg and hit over the head. He was alert and talking to police when he was taken to the hospital.
During the initial investigation police believed the man was shot within the Tulsa city limits; however, it was later determined the shooting occurred in the area of 16100 Tigerswitch Road in the city of Catoosa.
The victim, identified as Richard McCarty, of Glenpool, was shot three times. He is currently in stable condition.
Catoosa investigators say McCarty is refusing to cooperate with police.
The shooting remains under investigation.
