STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Stillwater man was killed when the car he was riding in crashed after the driver swerved to avoid a deer in the road.

The OHP report says 77-year-old Weldon Drew died in the Thanksgiving Day crash on a Payne County road about seven miles west of Stillwater.

Troopers say Drew was a passenger in the car that was eastbound on Oklahoma 51 when the driver swerved to avoid the deer and lost control of the vehicle. The report says the car went off the roadway and into a ditch where it rolled twice.

Drew was taken to a Stillwater where he died Thursday night.
