TULSA - The victim in a stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning has died.
Devin Maggs, 24, died just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say 27-year-old Eric Spears stabbed Maggs around 5 a.m. Tuesday at a north Tulsa home where Spears' found his girlfriend with Maggs.
Earlier in the evening, Spears and his girlfriend were at a bar. When she wanted to leave, Spears declined and she called Maggs, her former boyfriend, for a ride, police say.
According to Spears' arrest report, he went to the home, an altercation ensued and Maggs was stabbed in the abdomen.
Spears was arrested around 10:30 a.m. He told police the stabbing was in self-defense.
Spears was released from jail after posting bond just a half an hour after Maggs died in a Tulsa hospital.
Spears is due in court Oct. 18 to face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
