TULSA - An original painting from a Tulsa artist now covers part of the new Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa's Brady Art District.
The mural extends across the west side of the Tulsa Paper Company Building facing Boston Avenue at the corner of Brady Street.
Aaron Whisner, a local artist, won a Woody Guthrie Mural Project competition and was chosen to paint a mural of the folk music icon.
It features the famous song title, "This Land is Your Land."
"Any time you can do a project this large, you know, and if it's your hometown, it feels good. It's an honor," Whisner said.
The 12,000 square-foot museum will feature original items from the Woody Guthrie Archives brought to Tulsa by the George Kaiser Family Foundation two years ago.
The building sits across from the new Guthrie Green park that opened in September 2012.
The grand opening for the new Woody Guthrie Center is April 27.
